ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
As a native of Western Pennsylvania, Diane Jorstad currently lives in Butler County, one hour North of Pittsburgh. It was moving from the Pittsburgh area, where Jorstad worked as a Registered Nurse, to the beautiful farm county area of Butler, that stimulated her to pursue her interest in art, painting her garden flowers and countryside landscapes.
After taking local college art classes, Jorstad found herself winning Best of Show awards and other prestigious awards in the Western Pennsylvania area art shows, prompting requests from local stores, wanting to sell her artwork
A few of the many galleries where Jorstad has sold artwork are Blackwood Gallery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Art 3 Gallery, Manchester, New Hampshire, Laurel Tree and Associated Artists of Butler County Gallery, Butler, Pennsylvania, and From the Heart, Somerset, Pennsylvania. Her artwork has been shown from Carmel, California (Cottage Gallery) to Boston, Massachusetts (Boston Corporate Art Consultancy) to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands ( Ninth Life Gallery). She has been hired by Butler Community College and Lenape Vocation Technical School to teach Adult Education Art Classes. Jorstad also has had her artwork on the cover of the art magazine “Art Calendar” Magazine December 2005 and “Fruit for the Spirit” A Daily Devotional by Rev. Dr. Jertie Hurley/ Year 2007 & 2008.
Jorstad’s many commission sales have enabled her to paint a variety of subject matter and use different mediums. She has painted portraits of children, adults, homes and pets for private clients. Her gallery art includes landscape, floral and still life artwork and pet portrait art in oil and colored pencil.
All the awards and shows, however, don’t compare to the simple joy of being able to paint for someone their own special memory, such as the family pet or a family members portrait.
